Introduction to Theatre Interpreting (Level 3 BSL - RSLI)

Training venue: Festival Theatre Edinburgh, Nicolson St, Edinburgh EH8 9FT
Date: Saturday 13 October 2018, 10:00am - 5:00pm
Trainers: Donna Ruane RSLI and Alexandra Shaw RSLT

This one day workshop is designed to provide an introduction to the various aspects of the theatrical interpreting domain and is open to those with Level 3 and above. As well as being an introduction to professional Theatre Interpreting, it is highly recommended for school/college plays or those who are involved with amateur drama or youth drama groups. It is also beneficial for those currently working in the domain.

During the day participants will gain an understanding of the stage, professionals who work in the domain and key points for good preparation. We will be using fun tasks to embed our training and so please make sure you wear comfortable clothes.

Cost includes training, materials, tea/coffee and creative fun.

Interpreting from Head to Heels (Level 3 BSL - RSLI)

This one day workshop follows on from our 'Introduction to Theatre Interpreting' course and delves deeper into strategies to deliver an interpretation from head to toe.

Using excerpts from the popular West end show Kinky Boots we look at how to get your sass on without pulling focus and just how important it is to maintain musicality, comedy and ultimately - meaning.

Making it Visual (Level 3 BSL - RSLI/RSLT) - Manchester

Training venue: Manchester Palace Theatre
Date: Saturday 1 September 2018, 10:30am - 5:30pm
Trainers: Leigh Bish (Deaf Instructor / Qualified Assessor - BSL Levels 1-6) 

Have you ever seen a story told in BSL and thought - 'Wow, they make it look so easy??' 

Want to learn how?

Using a variety of materials, this one day workshop offers an opportunity to explore the journey from 'the page to the stage' (be it theatre, conference, schools, home or otherwise) enabling participants to develop strategies for stepping away from English and providing a visually creative and meaningful interpretation.

This workshop will benefit those holding BSL qualifications of Level 3+, who wish to enhance their visual BSL skills. 

Cost includes - training, materials, tea/coffee and fun.
Early bird (before 31 July 2018) - £130

Have you ever tried to sign a children's story and found yourself bogged down with the words and unable to create a visual that portrays the wonder of the moment?

This one day workshop focuses on techniques to create a visual translation of a children's story that will keep them enthralled. These strategies will benefit not only those working in theatre and amateur drama, but in schools, at home, with children or those with minimal language needs. And... anyone who is still a child at heart!!

This workshop is best suited to those with BSL qualifications of Level 3+.

Panto Interpreting Workshop

In preparation for the Christmas panto/play season, Theatresign are pleased to be offering another of our hugely successful Panto Interpreting Workshops.

This one day workshop is designed to provide an introduction to the various aspects of pantomime interpreting and is particularly beneficial for school plays or those who are involved with amateur or youth drama groups as well as those working in the professional Theatre domain.

image of group.This training workshop is open to those with Level 3+ and will explore the various interpreting challenges of pantomime and related skills and techniques. All this will contribute towards developing your own personal style of panto interpreting.

Be prepared for anything - custard pies may feature!
