Like a diamond, THEATRESIGN have many gleaming facets!! Ranging from the provision of their BSL interpretation which enables us to reach out to a wider audience base, to sharing their insights via our wonderful training partnership: THEATRESIGN are training the interpreters of the future to a high standard and enabling us to become an award winning venue for our access provision through the staff training they have given us. This ultimately results in our customers having a great experience at every touch point in their journey. THEATRESIGN’s support has enabled us to transform into our own diamond, where once we were not polished with the services we offered to this demographic – we now have a sparkle! Their patience and encouragement have ensured we have become something quite spectacular – thank you for this.

Working with THEATRESIGN has been amazing. From the courses offered, which are the perfect balance of challenging and supportive; to the help Alex and Donna are willing to give. Whether it's discussing translation of a tricky line, a cancelled train or a last minute costume malfunction; with their combined passion and experience of working in theatre, they can always be relied upon to help. Being part of the THEATRESIGN team means being part of a large team of dedicated, caring language professionals. I couldn't be more grateful to work with THEATRESIGN.

THEATRESIGN is such a joyous way to improve your professional practice. I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to have fun whilst thinking about the more colloquial, lyrical and story-telling aspects of BSL and how to make these come to life for a Deaf audience. I've gained so many transferable skills from going on THEATRESIGN courses, from feeling confident to work in front of a larger audience to being able to think about how to translate songs/poems/humour in various settings and sometimes without any prep or advance warning. THEATRESIGN teaches you how to think on your feet and maintain an air of professionalism even when the unexpected happens. The courses are so supportive and there's a completely collaborative feel to working on translations and really thinking about all the different ways you can interpret a phrase or lyric. I never thought I'd spend fifteen minutes debating how a Bodyguard would cry or miming how different characters from Les Mis would eat a sandwich! You get to be taught by amazing and knowledgeable tutors, including a living legend of interpreting in British theatre. You are also surrounded by peers who have your back and encourage you to step outside of your comfort zone and try new things in a safe space. You laugh a lot; you learn a lot and you walk out feeling like you have the linguistic tools to cope with whatever may be thrown at you in the future. You also learn about the practical elements of working on stage and in performance settings. THEATRESIGN courses will turn your stage fright into stage might and give your performative interpreting loads of sparkle and professional polish! They are absolute magic!
