Auditions

Interested in joining our team?

We are often looking to expand our family of freelance Interpreters, Translators and Trainers and so we hold auditions throughout the year.

If you are interested in working with us and think that you have the right skills and experience to contribute to our renowned team and service delivery – keep an eye on this page for audition dates or join our mailing list by emailing [email protected].

Show Interpreters

The audition process is straightforward.

Please Note: the minimum qualification requirement to join our interpreting team is RSLI.

Stage 1

You will be sent a minimum of 2 pieces (YouTube links will be given) to research and prepare your interpretation.  You will then be required to film yourself interpreting these pieces and upload privately to YouTube (instructions will be provided) for our viewing.

Stage 2

For successful candidates – you will be invited to attend one of our training sessions where we can get to know you better and consider your long-term development plan, support and suitability for the various genres we work within.

Stage 3

Successful candidates are mentored / buddied and supervised for the first year of service and will enjoy many developmental opportunities with the wider team.

Translators:

THEATRESIGN are keen to grow our pool of Translators in a range of roles. We are still developing our process for this, but if you are interested in joining the team, contact us at [email protected].

Trainers:

If you have training qualifications and experience of the Arts and Entertainment field and an understanding of D/deaf culture and community, we are always interested to hear from you.  Please send us your CV (BSL or Written English) and a 5-10 minute video of you teaching (using BSL) and we will contact you to discuss opportunities.  We particulary welcome applications from Deaf / disabled trainers. All new trainers will co train during the first year and be fully supported / assisted by a member of our training team here at THEATRESIGN.

Artists - Trainers:

If you are qualified to teach in the field of movement or acting – we would love to hear from you.

Please supply us with your current CV and a showreel of your teaching / performance experience.

BSL Assessors / Mentors:

It is a long term goal for THEATRESIGN to grow our team of Assessors / Mentors as we are renown for our quality and standards. Assessors are engaged and trained within this domain to provide support and feedback to our performance interpreters as well as mentoring them during the preparation phase.
